The Lord is my Rock (unshakeable, unmovable and will always be there). My Fortress (my protector/protection). My Deliverer (one who delivers me). So David is basically giving Honor and Praise to the One who so deserves it. David is basically not thinking about himself so much as he is busy Thanking God for All He Has Done For Him. Therefore, David is giving praise to the Most Unshakeable, Unmovable and the One who will Always be there for us. The One who is Always there to Protect Us and who will be there with us through the good and the bad. The One who delivered David from his enemies.

What a song of praise. Do we pray and recognize all that God has done or is doing in our lives. The Lord is my rock!! that in itself says a lot. We are assured we can depend on God. Through out the song David often says He is and you are as if he is praising God and then talking directly to God. In prayer we can do both. It warms our soul to give God praise but we should be doing more we should be in a relationship with him communicating with him daily. I thank God for the power of prayer where I can give my thanks, express regret for any sin and also share my day putting my need and worries before the Lord all in one. I give praise for many many answered prayers!
