2 Chronicles 13:12
God is with us; he is our leader. His priests with their trumpets will sound the battle cry against you. People of Israel, do not fight against the Lord, the God of your ancestors, for you will not succeed."

He was trying to tell his people, that God is with us and he is going to fight our battle for us, trust in the Lord, wait on the lord. You can not win without God. All of our battles are his. Put them on the alter.

When I read the part that says, “People of Israel, do not fight against the Lord, the God of your ancestors, for you will not succeed”, I feel something that we all can relate to. Jesus is our God and we are His people yet sometimes when we go through fiery trials or obstacles, we blame Him, resist Him, and sometimes we even wage war against the Him. We must realize that we cannot ever win the battle versus God, and that He is not against us but for us. So let us raise our white flags and surrender ourselves, everything we are, wholly to Him and stop resisting Him. The sooner we surrender to God, the better we’ll be.

Jeroboam's army was a vast army, and they had made for themselves golden calves as idols to worship. And now they planed to resist the Lord God and fight against him. Abijah told them that the people of Judah had not forsaken the Lord their God and the priest carried out their daily duties. So God was with them. And Jeroboam and his army would not succeed.
I think that God must have laughed when these people who had turned away from Him, were now planning to fight against His people. - I heard a saying once that said, "Your arms are too short to box with God." And I think that was the very thing that Abijah was trying to get across to Jeroboam and the rest of the Israelites.
