so David inquired of God again, and God answered him, "Do not go directly after them, but circle around them and attack them in front of the poplar trees.

Twice in this chapter David sought Gods guidance for battle and twice God gave him victories. As Christians there is a lesson we can learn from David, and the only way to experience God is to seek Him and the only way to know His direction is to ask Him.

Amen to that Peter. We chose different verse this time but with the same conclusion, "seek the Lord". Sure a different day here today Peter. Hit the 70 mark yesterday and sunny with overnight low of 45 but today cloudy and not sure if it made 60, and calling for 32 overnight. Sure hope this isolation ends soon. God bless you brother. :-)

For Every Opposition in my Life, Father God has the answer for my Victory! I have just to inquire of Him and to not lean to my own understanding or ways. Thank You Lord!

David kept inquiring of The Lord. He could have easily thought that this was the same adversary and he has done this before and that he has it under control, but he didn't he asked God for guidance and he got a new plan, a new way. Just because we have been there and done that doesn't mean we don't pray and get guidance from God each time he may have a different plan and if we go off on our own thinking we know it all we will miss his blessings.

Both times in this chapter, David inquired of the Lord whether or not he should attack the Philistines, rather than just go out in his own strength. God instructed him in both cases, so he honored God by his asking, rather just counting on his own might. To bad our leaders today wouldn't seek God for their governance and decisions. We'd have much healthier nations if they did.

Before going to war, David always inquired of the Lord, and listened, and did what God told him. I guess when it came to women he didn't inquire of God, cuz God commanded in Deu 17:17 The king must not take many wives for himself, because they will turn his heart away from the LORD and in verse 3-4, it says he took more wives, had more kids, and gave their names. Papa God, please always remind me to inquire of You at ALL times for ALL things and not have a heart for You in some areas and wink at my sin in other areas.

It has often made me wonder how God allowed the kings of Israel to have multiple wives and seemed to do nothing about it, at least in this case. David sought God's advise regarding most things but obviously not about having more than one wife. Ditto to your prayer, Donna.
