1 Chronicles 11:6
David had said, "Whoever leads the attack on the Jebusites will become commander-in-chief." Joab son of Zeruiah went up first, and so he received the command.

Joab had fallen out of favor with David for killing Abner. He had to prove himself again. He destroyed the Jebusites and was restored as chief and captain. He had been demoted, when David disapproved of him. Now he is back in good standing.

Zeruiah was Davids sister and she must've been quite a woman. The fact that her name appears 25 times along with that of her sons is sufficient proof that she was a mother of distinction who had a quite an influence over the lives of her sons. She and David must've been very close also cuz her sons were fiercly loyal to David. Her husband, their father’s, name never appears in the scriptures. I wonder if possibly he died and David was a father figure to her 3 sons. That would certainly explain why he let Joab get away with all his shenanigans and never punished him. He literally let him get away with murder...come to think about it, thats the same thing he did with his kids.

I wish that the Christians of our nation could say Whoever leads the attack on the things that God hates, he will be our commander-in-chief. O Lord I pray that there could be such a man. A man who would put an end to abortions. A man who would stand up against homosexuality. A man who would put God back into our government, A man who would call on the people to fall on our face, and cry out to the one and only living God, to forgive us our sins, and to heal our land. A man who would seek out teachers who would once again teach the children of our nation, that man was created in the image of God, and because of that fact, we need to treat each other with kindness and respect. Our Country needs teachers who teaches the children of our nation the ten commandments and how to pray to the one and only true God.
