Genesis 1:1
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Teresa H.
Teresa H. from Mantachie, MS said:
God created something in the beginning that was so beautiful that He named it the heavens and the earth. To me this means God wanted tip create a place that He would be able to create other things to fulfill the great places He created. Creating the heavens and the earth had to have been such a marvelous sight to see as well as live in at that moment. Just seeing something so moving being created would have been such a mystery to everyone who didn't know who God was.

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. There have been so many "scholars" trying to refute that there is a God that created everything. Darwin's "theory" of evolution has been thought as "fact" for so long that people believe that all the wondrous things we see about us came about as a result of a "big bang", aka chaos and became organized through time. No where in nature do we see something go from disorder to order without some sort of intervention. Believing that theory is like believing a tornado could sweep thru a junk yard and we'd end up with a 747. It takes more faith to believe the evolution theory that it does to believe in a creator. The problem with believing in a creator is that if there's a creator, He probably made some sort of rules to live by, and there's the rub. People just don't like those pesky rules. But, when did you EVER play a game where there were no rules? Whenever you begin to play a game for the first time, what's the first question you ask? Ben Stein interviewed the famous atheist, Richard Dawkin's and he actually DOES believe in some sort of intelligent design that was planted here by aliens. How convenient, some ET plopped us here on this planet and left us to fend for ourselves with a "make the rules up as you go" mentality. No faith required there! Here's the except from that interview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIHiggcVZvY&sns=em See, it ALL begins with Genesis. If Genesis isn't true, how can we expect the rest of the bible to be true? People teach their kids about Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and Jesus, then when the kids get to be about 8, they tell them that Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny aren't real, but Jesus is. Then, they put them in 8 hours of public school Marxist indoctrination every day and drag them to church once or twice a week and wonder why when they send them off to college, they no longer believe in the God of the bible. According to this chapter, God spoke and things happened. God wrote the bible so that even the simplest of us could understand it. But He also wrote it with such complex information that we can read and read and dig to our hearts content and never discover all the rich knowledge He's hidden in there. Proverbs 25:2 says it's the glory of God to conceal a matter, and the honor of kings to search it out. 1 Peter 2:9 tells us that we're a royal priesthood, it's our job to act like it and search the Scriptures for all the wondrous knowledge God had hidden there for us. God uses simple, foolish things to confound the people in this world that think they're just too wise to stoop to simple things. Papa God, please give these educated idiots thoughts that they think are theirs with revelation knowledge of who You are, how much you love them. Open their hearts, minds, spirits and lives to repentance and salvation, in Jesus name, Amen.

"In the beginning, God...", are probably the most important, the most profound, and the most theologically rich words of the entire Bible, because it is only after accepting that God is that the rest of the Bible makes any sense, or has any power to shape our lives.

What a beautiful portrait He has given us. Was at a men's conference this weekend and where it was held was such a beautiful setting, and they had a couple of topographical space shot of the area and I stood in amazement at the beauty of all the little lakes and forest areas and hills of the area. God bless, brother.

Genesis 1:1 is a special verse for me because it clearly affirms to me that there has never been a single moment in time when we have been without our Almighty Creator and God, nor will there ever be! And for those of us who have been - and are - wiling to place our trust in Him, not only is He a powerful God Who created all things, but He created us anew in Christ Jesus and makes His dwelling place within our very beings. Amen.
