Leviticus 21:18
No man who has any defect may come near: no man who is blind or lame, disfigured or deformed;
Donna N. from Orlando, FL said:
Leviticus 21: 18 For whatsoever man he is that has a blemish, he shall not approach: a blind man, or lame, or he that has a marred face, or any limb too long, 19 Or a man that has a broken foot, or broken hand, 20 Or a hunchback, or a dwarf, or that has a defect in his eye, or an itching disease, or scabs, or is a eunuch; 21 No man that has a blemish of the descendants of Aaron the priest shall come near to offer the offerings of the LORD made by fire: he has a blemish; he shall not come near to offer the bread of his God. 22 He may eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy, and of the holy.
This was the requirements for the priests. They had to be without spot or blemish, because they were representing God to the people. Under the new covenant, 1 Peter 2 tells us we're a royal priesthood.
As Christs representatives/priesthood, we're to represent Him properly to the world, and ask, if we're:
Blind meaning we have no vision. Without vision people perish
Broken foot means we can't stand. Ephesians 6 tells us to stand firm. If we don't stand firm we'll fall.
Broken hand represents our ability to serve.
Lame means As Christs representatives/priesthood, we're to represent Him properly to the world, and ask we can't walk in precepts of the Lord, or we say one thing and do another, or take up numerous offerings using every manipulative trick in the book to get more money. The world looks at the church and what do they say? They say, "That's lame", call us hypocrites, and justifiably so, if we do these things.
Disfigured face, relates to discernment. Our senses show reaction on our face.
Unnatural growth represents stuff that isn't coming from the Spirit of God, and doesn't properly represent God.
If one leg is longer, we can't walk straight.
A dwarf has stunted growth.
Search me, Papa God, and see if I pass or fail in these areas and cleanse me from anything that misrepresents You to cause them to stumble away from You. Let me be a light that shines Your light for all to see their way to You, in Jesus name, Amen

Leviticus 21:18
No man who has any defect may come near: no man who is blind or lame, disfigured or deformed;

Terry J. from Hinsdale, NY said:
These are some of the same people who flocked to come to Jesus and He reached out and touched them. "When the sun was setting, the people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness, and laying His hands on each one, He healed them." (Luke 4:40) "Lord, I lift Your name on high, Lord, I love to sing Your praises, I'm so glad You're in my life, I'm so glad You came to save me!"

This is a very confusing chapter. Does God turn his back on the weak and deformed? Can someone explain this verse for me? I am new to reading the Bible, but find that God seems very cruel to some of his people, especially in this verse, the weak and deformed. Please help me understand this chapter.
