I was baptised many years ago and began my new life in Christ. However, life still has many battles but now one has the assurance that being in Christ we have an Advocate with the Father and our future life is assured. How wonderful to know our Lord Jesus and to walk with Him.

My understanding is that Baptism is my public proclamation of my faith in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. I publicly admit to my salvation, however it is not baptism in and of itself that saves me. Christ saved me while baptism is what reflects my salvation publicly.

Water baptism is not making a person clean in their flesh. It's about asking God for a good/clear conscience. The verse also states it saves us by the Resurrection of Jesus.
